I’m looking to make a very warm jacket as an outer layer for winter basecamping, likely using 6-oz. Primaloft sport, and adding a hood.  If I were trying to minimize pattern alterations, which kit would, on the whole, be best suited for such a thing?  I’d probably prefer a pull-over style like the Kinsman or Kennebec, but perhaps the Maxima would adapt better to the higher-lofting insulation and hood addition?

I’ve made most of AYCES kits and I guess if your not looking to go the down route I’d say either try the Maxima and add a hood or Kinsman. If you do a little digging you should find the thread I started on adding a hood to a Kinsman last year. AYCE has a hood patten on the main site that’s a great starting point and goes over basic construction.
