I might be making some daypacks and shelters for the camp I guide backpacking at, where can I get heavier silnylon, like 1.9 oz or heavier?  the gear will need to be durable since it is regularly abused by teens, but needs to be lighter than our current stuff too.  as an ultralight fan, it kills me all the weight we strap onto teens.  I go ultralight on my personal stuff then fill the rest up with guide gear and group gear.

Try Dave Olsen at Oware for the 1.9 oz sil nylon, or seattle fabrics.
