Are there any good programs that I can get to make plans for my gear projects.  I would use this to make scaled down plans for tents, packs, and templates for making stoves (i.e. where to punch the holes).  Obviously the free ones would be best, but all ideas are welcome!  Thanks.

I’ve heard of people using Google Sketchup (free) for designing tents and tarps, but I downloaded it and couldn’t figure out heads from tails when I tried it.  I should probably say that I didn’t read the instructions either.

I’ve used Sketchup for tarps & tents.  I think you could do packs and many other things.  I have only used it for straight lines, you can do curves, but it is hard for me to figure out anything past ab type lines, i’m no math stud.  It is nice to play with, but no replacement for paper mock ups.  It helps get a good idea before building said mock ups tho
